Special Weather Statement issued July 31 at 10:16PM MDT by NWS Great Falls MT

At 1014 PM MDT, radar indicated strong thunderstorms were located
along a line extending from 29 miles west of Augusta to 14 miles
northwest of Wolf Creek to 12 miles north of Helena. Movement was
northeast at 30 mph.

Winds in excess of 40 mph, brief heavy rain, and pea size hail are
possible with these storms.

Locations impacted include…
Helena, Cascade, East Helena, Augusta, Montana City, Wolf Creek,
Pishkun Reservoir, York, Nilan Reservoir, Bean Lake, Bowmans Corner,
Tower Rock State Park, Craig, Black Sandy State Park and Simms.

This includes the North Hills Fire area in the northern Helena
Valley.

Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm.
Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe
shelter inside a building or vehicle.
