Two dead in eastern Montana plane crash

ROOSEVELT COUNTY — Two people died in a plane crash in eastern Montana Monday afternoon.

According to the Roosevelt County Sheriff's Office, two men were killed when their plane went down around 2:30 p.m.

Allen Kenitzer, with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Northwest Region Public Affairs Office told Q2 via email Tuesday a "Cessna C182 crashed under unknown circumstances 25 miles north of Wolf Point."

Roosevelt County Sheriff Jason Frederick said Tuesday that the plane originated from Wyoming.

Neither agency were able to release details about why it crashed.

The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board will investigate.

The names of the victims have not yet been released.

Frederick said officials are using dental records to identify the victims.

Kenitzer said investigations can take many months or longer to determine the cause of an airplane crash
