Montana Fish Wildlife and Parks will host the Winter Trails Day at Elkhorn Hot Springs on Feb. 23, 2019. The event offers winter fun from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., including guided snowshoe walks, winter games and learning about winter and snow safety. Chet also highlights the 2019 Watercraft Inspection Station Annual Report.

The Forest Service cabin behind the hot springs will be open with free coffee and hot chocolate, wildlife trivia game, and a table where children can make their own pine cone bird feeder.  The Elkhorn ski trails are free and open for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing.

Bring your own equipment or borrow a pair of snowshoes for free during the event.  Elkhorn Hot Springs is also offering $4 for children and $5 for adults swim coupons for all participants in the Winter Trails Day event.   There will also be one hour guided ski tours starting from the cabin at 10:15 and 1:00.

The U.S. Forest Service, Beaverhead Trails Coalition, Pioneer Mountain Education Foundation, and Elkhorn Hot Springs have joined together to host this local family event.

Elkhorn Hot Springs is located in the Pioneer Mountains, 13 miles north of Highway 278 on the Pioneer Mountains Scenic Byway.  All are welcome and no registration is needed.  For more information call the Forest Service at (406) 683-3900.
