Additional details have been released in regards to a Wednesday evening incident where a 35-year-old was struck and killed by a vehicle near Ronan.

The Montana Highway Patrol stated in an email to MTN News that a pedestrian was walking near the fog line on the shoulder of the road was struck by the edge of a snowplow.

MHP says that following the incident, the driver of a snowplow -- which was not actively plowing at the time -- pulled over and parked along the southbound side of the road.

The Montana Highway Patrol is continuing to investigate the incident.

The victim's body was taken to the Montana State Crime Lab in Missoula so that an autopsy can be performed.

CORRECTION: A previous version of this article stated that the incident happened on Thursday night. It occurred on Wednesday night. Additionally, the previous headline has been changed following the receipt of further information from the Montana Highway Patrol.

A male was hit by an oncoming vehicle Wednesday night on US Highway 93 in the Mission Valley.

Lake County Sheriff Don Bell says emergency crews responded to reports of a pedestrian being hit by a vehicle at 10:35 p.m. south of Ronan, near mile marker 45.

The Montana Highway Patrol is continuing to investigate the incident.

The victim's body has been taken to the Montana State Crime Lab in Missoula so that an autopsy can be performed.

The Lake County Sheriff's Office, the Montana Highway Patrol and the Ronan fire department responded to the scene.
