HELENA -- Axe throwing, batting cages, trampolines and virtual reality. That's what Ron Bolan and Vince Saccheri envision when they tell people about Flying Giant Adventure Park.

Right now, the Adventure Center that will house trampolines and other virtual reality games is under construction with plans to be finished in the Fall of 2020, but now open, adjacent to the batting cages, are axe throwing bays.

Bolan said they hope to provide activities for anyone when they come to Helena.

"The additions of the batting cages, the additions of the axe throwing, and the Flying Giant Adventure Center is going to bring some much needed activities to the Helena community," said Bolan inside one of the axe throwing bays.

Montana showcases a plethora of outdoor activities in the spring and summer months, but Saccheri said what sparked the interest in creating the park was when he thought about the things he and his son have to do in the wintertime.

"I've got an 8-year-old son, we live in the community. I really want him to have something to do now and when he's a teenager," said Saccheri after taking a few hacks in the batting cages. "Just something to keep him active, keep him staying out of trouble. Just something for kids to do in our community.

Though they sit right next to one another, Sleeping Giant Lanes and Flying Giant Adventure Park are two separate ventures stemming from the same vision, to provide anyone with something to do.

Despite the economic uncertainty the COVID-19 pandemic has created, Bolan says open parts of the Adventure Park have been well received by the community and hopes they will for years to come.

"The community of Helena has been great, we've had a lot of support from the community and we've been fairly busy," said Bolan.
