Boeing has officially suspended production of the 737 Max airplane, CNN reports.

The company had previously announced that it would eventually stop the production of the grounded airplanes in December.

The 737 Max has been grounded since March after two new jets crashed within five months of each other, killing more than 300 people. The FAA ruled that Boeing could continue to build the planes, but would not be able to deliver them to airlines while it investigates the crashes.

According to CNN, there are currently 400 completed 737 Max planes parked and waiting to be delivered. Boeing does not receive money from clients until the planes are delivered.

Boeing says workers won't be furloughed or laid off due to building shutdown.
