BUTTE - There's more than just big football games this weekend. Montana Tech will be hosting a big robot competition on Saturday, the same day as the annual Cat-Griz football game and a day after the State AA Championship football game.
More than 30 teams from high schools across the Northwestern United States will compete to see which robot can accomplish more tasks in the HPER Complex. Top finishers in this competition will move on to the qualifier competition at MSU in January. Organizers say this is a highly competitive event.
“Think of it like a big basketball game or big football game, but all the kids instead of playing sports are running, and it's pretty physical, but running around doing these robots, building these robots and having them out there. There's screaming there's hollering,” said Montana Tech Associate Professor Bryce Hill.
