Despite some challenges from the weather, MontanaFair drew some of its biggest numbers in years to the Yellowstone County Fairgrounds in Billings.

This year, 226,000 people made their way to the fairgrounds for the rides, rodeos, food, and concerts. MetraPark director of marketing and sales Ray Massie told Q2 that’s the best attendance since 2015, when MontanaFair drew 232,000 spectators.

It’s not known what the all-time high attendance is for the fair since many of the records were destroyed in the tornado that hit MetraPark in June 2010.

Massie says the fair set a record for food and beverage sales and just missed setting a new record for carnival sales.

“Considering the weather, we were thoroughly pleased,” said Massie.
