LOLO — A big change is coming for the Lolo School District as administrators move to sell the school property along Highway 93 which has been the site of the school since 1884.

The district has talked about moving the school from the busy location on the highway to a safer, and more spacious location for decades.

Last year, Lolo voters approved a $22 million bond to build a new school on Farm Lane, including the plan to sell the 30-acres.

Now, the property has been listed. Superintendent Dale Olinger says proceeds of the sale will help pay for the new school.

He says the school property "has the potential to greatly enhance the community" and could offer additional housing and commercial development.

The district is listing the site for $4.1 million and hopes to lease the property if it's sold before the new school is finished.
