BUTTE — Inside this historic building in Butte, restoration and development work is going on to bring this once vibrant building back to life.

Danielle Zimmerman, Owner of the O’Rourke Building LLC, is revitalizing the building alongside her husband Jeff and this project was born during a vacation in Butte.

“For leisure, we like to stop in and take a look at historic cities and towns and we were just driving through and honestly the O’Rourke was the first building we saw and we bought it.. . even though it was in rough shape we could kind of see the diamond through the rough," Zimmerman said.

The project is currently finishing up phase one, with the first-floor units completely done and the rest of the south building being finished. The south building has three floors, each floor having a studio, one bed- one bath, and two bed-two bath apartments.

"Currently we have five [rooms] under contract out of the eleven," Zimmerman said.

Zimmerman said she would like to have a public open house as a thank you to the community members that helped keep the O’Rourke standing.

"There’s been a lot of community members who have in one way or the other have either worked on saving the building in the past or cleaning it up, boarding up windows you know trying to make sure it still stands, so we’d like to share that with everybody," Zimmerman said.

Zimmerman is excited that this project is almost wrapped up and can’t wait to start on their other planned project in Butte.

"It’s just off of Broadway and construction on that will start as soon as we’re complete on this one in the next couple of months and I can’t exactly say what we’re doing with it quite yet," Zimmerman said.
