MISSOULA – A man died over the weekend after crashing his ATV in northwest Montana.

The Montana Highway Patrol reports a 28-year-old man from Calgary was driving an ATV on Jim Creek Road just outside of Trego just after 1:45 p.m. Saturday when he drifted off the road and into a group of trees.

The victim was flown to Kalispell Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced brain dead and then later died.

Alcohol is suspected to be involved and road conditions were wet and muddy at the time. Law enforcement reports the man was not wearing a helmet.
