Woman found dead on Milk River has been identified

Thomasine Walker of Fort Belknap, 33 years old, has been identified as the woman who was found dead on Monday.

Blaine County Sheriff John Colby told MTN News on Friday that while her death is not considered suspicious at this point, he is waiting for autopsy results to determine the manner and cause of her death.

(JANUARY 29, 2020) The death of a woman whose body found in the Milk River on the Fort Belknap Indian Reservation is being investigated.

Law enforcement in Fort Belknap received a call from someone on Monday at 4:27 p.m. who said that there was a person in the Milk River, near the Fort Belknap Agency Dam.

Several agencies responded to the scene, including Fort Belknap law enforcement, Fort Belknap Fish & Game, Fort Belknap Volunteer Fire, Blaine County Sheriff's Office, and the FBI.

The emergency crews found the body on the ice.

The body was taken to the State Crime Lab in Billings, where an autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause and manner of death.

Authorities have not yet released the name of the woman.
