There is encouraging news about the little Flathead Valley girl who was hit by a car while getting off her school bus in November near Whitefish.

Jordana Hubble has been in recovery at Nexus Children's Hospital in Houston, Texas, after being transferred there several days ago.

Jordana has made significant progress after three days of being admitted to the program where they can help treat the traumatic brain injury she sustained when she was hit.

According to her new team of doctors, Jordana is now considered to be in a 'minimally conscious' state.

Rather than being in a continuous coma, she now suffers from what her doctor called a Disorder of Consciousness , which is a product of her Diffusal Axonal Brain Injury .

She's also smiling and laughing, and at times appears to recognize family members.

The family says they're optimistic about her treatment at this facility.

Montana Highway Patrol Trooper Jerill Ren says the MHP is discussing specifics of the case with the Flathead County Attorney's Office to determine if charges can or will be filed against the driver who hit Jordana, including awaiting the release of the toxicology report.
