(UPDATE, 9:59 pm) The National Weather Services in Great Falls says: "As of 9:55 pm, Interstate 15 is open, but still reporting severe driving from Vaughn to the Canadian border. Heavy snow continues over I-15 in this area. Please try to avoid travel on this stretch of road tonight if possible."
(UPDATE, 8:05 pm) The National Weather Service says they have confirmed that I-15 is CLOSED between Vaughn and Conrad, per the Cascade County Sheriff's Office. MDT/MHP are turning around northbound traffic at Vaughn - this includes the frontage road.
(1st Report, 7:30 pm) Road conditions along I-15, particularly north of Great Falls to the Canadian border, are extremely hazardous due to snow and ice.
The National Weather Service said just before 7 p.m. on Wednesday that Interstate 15 is closed from Shelby north to the Canadian border, per the Toole County Sheriff's Office. They advise people to limit any travel north and west of Great Falls tonight to emergency travel only.
The Village of Coutts in Alberta said in a Facebook post : "US CUSTOMS IS TURNING BACK ALL CARS HEADING SOUTH. I15 is closed for regular travel. The motel in Coutts is full. Please do not travel to the border tonight!"
And along the west side of Great Falls, Jarrett Workman shared the photo above with KRTV at about 7:20 pm and wrote: "Semi couldn’t stop coming off the off ramp of I15 southbound. Truck is obstructing both lanes of traffic on the frontage road leaving Great Falls toward Vaughn."
The Glacier County Sheriff's Office said at 3:30 pm: "PLEASE STAY OFF THE ROADS. ALL OF THEM. We have temporarily closed US Highway 2 from Cut Bank to Shelby in both directions. This is not a joke. The roads are absolutely horrible! STAY OFF OF THEM PLEASE!!!"
