A longing for change and a quieter way of life is what brought Miguel Mendoza to Montana nearly seven years ago.

Miguel’s first job was that of a ranch hand, a career he soon began to enjoy.

After moving to the Treasure State Miguel met his wife Nancy. With a family that now consists of six little girls, Miguel and Nancy know all too well how the holidays can put a squeeze on the wallet.

In hopes of making a little extra money to put presents under the tree, Miguel turned to a skill he picked up on the ranch.

Welding old horseshoes and turning them into works of art was far from easy, but Miguel accepted the challenge.

“They’re bent, they’re crooked, and so pretty much you have to stretch them out, cut the nails, shine them up, and then weld them, paint them, it’s a mess, Said Miguel.”

With some practice, Miguel got the hang of it and the orders began coming in.

Miguel hopes to continue making the horseshoe art and welcomes special requests.
