A Cody man died Friday, two days after he crashed into another vehicle on an icy Wyoming highway north of town.

Dylan J. Ray, 34, died at West Park Hospital Cody, according to Wyoming Highway Patrol Sgt. Jeremy Beck.

Ray was driving a 2006 Nissan Xterra on westbound U.S. Highway 14A when he lost control exiting a right-hand curve. He crossed into the eastbound lane and struck a 2016 Freightliner Conventional, Beck said in a news release.

Ray was not wearing a seat belt, Beck said.

The other driver, Travis W. Cook, 30 of Riverton, was wearing a seat belt and was uninjured in the crash, according to Beck.

Troopers are investigating Ray's speed as a possible factor in the crash, Beck said.

The fatality is the 120th on Wyoming’s roadways in 2020, compared to 142 in 2019, 107 in 2018, and 119 in 2017 to date.
