BOZEMAN — Montana State University announced the 2020 fall semester will start two weeks earlier than planned, now beginning on August 17.
MSU made the decision to give students and staff more options at a time where the flu and other illnesses generally rise.
The school also believes this decision will mean less travel for students limiting their exposure to illness.
“And so, what moving up the semester does is it takes out the need for students to travel home for Thanksgiving and then back to school and then back home again for the winter break. Now, they’ll wrap up right before that holiday, and then they’ll be home for one solid winter break,” explained MSU Spokesperson Michael Becker.
The fall semester will be from Monday, August 17, 2020 until Wednesday, November 25, 2020.
Classes for the summer semester begin on Monday, May 18 and will mainly be remote.
