JORDAN – A woman died in a crash Tuesday night after leading Garfield County deputies on a pursuit in a stolen vehicle.

According to the Montana Highway Patrol, the crash happened Tuesday night at 8:18 p.m.

On Thursday, Garfield County Sheriff Clay Lammers identified the woman as Michaela Jackson, 22 of Miles City.

Lammers said the incident began when deputies were called to a home in Jordan for an altercation between two people.

When authorities arrived, Jackson fled the scene in a green Ford Explorer.

A press release on the Garfield County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page states she first headed west on Highway 200.

She led the deputy on a short pursuit then made a U-turn and traveled back toward Jordan.

According to the patrol, Jackson hit a pole at an abandoned gas station and continued to drive.

She then hit a delineator post, went off the road and rolled.

Jackson was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected.

The press release states the car caught fire following the crash.

Jackson was taken to the Garfield County Health Center where she died.

Alcohol, drugs and speed are all considered factors in the crash.

An investigation by multiple law enforcement agencies is underway.
