On the third floor of the University of Montana's UC, International Women’s Day is being celebrated in a big way.

The 13th Annual Women's Fair is put on by Marketplace Media and Events to raise awareness of local non-profit organizations that make a difference in Missoula’s community.

Chelesea Maus has been coming to the women’s fair for 11 years and keeps attending the fair to support local women run businesses.

“I love how its geared towards women and informing about different services, and things that are here in Missoula that we may not have not known about,” said Maus.

Businesses across Missoula and even other states were at the fair showcasing their support for women and providing information about what they offer.

Tami Pettigrew, of Tami Renae Photography, is a part of Missoula’s Businesswomen Network and since she moved to Missoula just last summer, she wanted to show her support.

“This is a great way to connect with the community and connect with other business owners,” said Pettigrew.

Like Pettigrew, Bri Marsh, a fitness coach for Orangetheory was there to spread her business’s support for women seeking ways to make themselves healthier inside and outside of the workout facilities.

“We are here for women and men for all walks of life either if you just had a child like me or you're 80 years old, we are here to cater to every fitness need and we want to see you to your goals,” said Marsh.

The women’s fair also had a raffle donated from local businesses and entertainment such as the Mismo Cheer Team, and massage therapists and tarot readings.

The fair is to help women in Missoula feel appreciated and to help fight for a gender equal world.

And for Pettigrew International Women’s Day is a way for her and other women feel appreciated for all they do.

“It is a great thing to try and recognize the strengths of women and how far we have come and everything we do for our families and society.”
