BOZEMAN — The Human Resource Development Council in Bozeman has some big plans for this nearly 6 acres of land off Griffin Drive, and thanks to a local tech company, this big project has come one step closer to reality.
While it’s still over a year out from opening, HRDC’s Griffin Place has already gotten the attention of donors and those interested in helping the community.
“So Griffin Place actually represents two parcels on the east and west side of North 7th. And we have plans to develop a brand new Food Resource Center, Bozeman’s first year-round shelter and a Housing First Village Initiative,” said Heather Grenier, HRDC president.
That includes a new food bank and location for the Fork and Spoon restaurant, as well as new tiny home development.
It goes without saying, it’s one of HRDC’s bigger projects, with a mission that Bozeman tech company CommonFont is eager to invest in.
“CommonFont and HRDC have been partnered up for a couple of years now. We think they’re a really strong organization and they do a lot for our community with, I would say, really limited resources,” said Abby Schlatter, CommonFont CEO.
“We think that Griffin Place is really essential for our community at this point in time,” she added.
CommonFont donated $500,000 to the Griffin place project, and the HRDC says this gets them one step closer to beginning construction.
“So this investment in Griffin Place really kicks off our next steps and helps us really start finalizing the design and documents and move forward on the path to completing both of those developments,” said Grenier.
Construction on Griffin Place is expected to begin in the spring of 2021.
