Gallatin Co. reports 2 new COVID-related deaths

BOZEMAN — The Gallatin City-County Health Department confirmed that two more Gallatin County residents have passed away from complications due to COVID-19.

The two people were a female in her 80s who died at her residence in a long-term care facility the week of Dec. 20, and another female in her 90s who died at her residence in a long-term care facility the week of Dec. 27.

The Gallatin City-County Health Department received the official death certificate that attributed these deaths to COVID-19 on Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2021. These latest deaths make for a total of 41 COVID-related deaths in Gallatin County. Data on statewide deaths reported by the Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services can be found here.

“The Health Department sends our condolences to both of these women’s family and friends,” said Matt Kelley, Gallatin City-County Health Department Health Officer. “Even though the vaccine is being distributed in Gallatin County, it will take some time for it to be available to everyone. In order to safeguard our most vulnerable citizens, continue social distancing, avoiding crowds, wearing face coverings, washing hands, and staying home when sick.”

Out of respect for the families, no further details will be released.
