BUTTE - A man is dead after being involved in a single-vehicle crash Thursday afternoon in Jefferson County.
The Montana Highway Patrol Troop Michael O’Connor reports a man was driving a Kia Rio on Highway 2 towards Butte near mile marker 75 about 1 p.m., when he drove off the road and hit a rock. The car caught fire and the driver was killed.
The victim, who is believed to be from the Whitehall area, has not been identified, according to O’Connor.
Speed appears to be a factor in the accident and the incident remains under investigation.
