Dogs compete at Great Rockies Sportshow

DockDogs claims to be the fastest growing sport on four legs

Determination, enthusiasm and athleticism were on display at MetraPark in a competition that is just for the dogs.

DockDogs is a jumping competition all around the country and was at the Great Rockies Sportshow at the MetraPark Expo Center this weekend.

Organizers said that the best jumping dogs have a determination to chase their toys.

The world record is 32 feet 10 inches.

In Billings, the best dogs have been jumping more than 20 feet.

The dogs are all classified according to ability.

For those involved, Dockdogs' Senior Event Manager Bob Dwyer said the dogs are a special breed of athlete.

"The dogs will make you smile every day differently," Dwyer said. "Now the handlers are amazing people. but I got to tell you, I'm here for the dogs. So much loving, so much dedication. and the focus. They'll give their all to you 24/7. It's the most amazing sport I've ever been involved with."

DockDogs also holds a high jump competition and a run, jump and swim event.
