BOZEMAN — It’s back-to-school season, which means the start of back-to-school traffic.

The Bozeman School District would like to remind drivers to be mindful of school zones and traffic that occurs before and right after school hours.

Make sure to slow down once entering a school zone and keep an eye out for students and pedestrians who always have the right of way.

Avoid blocking crosswalks and yield when crosswalk signs are flashing.

And never pass a stopped school bus loading and unloading students. It is against the law.

“Pretty soon we're going to have kids out walking to school or riding their bikes to school. Obviously, school bus safety is a big issue. We do want everyone to know as they're driving around town to be on the lookout for those kids on their way to and from school as well,” said Mike Waterman, Director of Business Services for Bozeman Public Schools.

“So please play close attention to the cross walks, play close attention to the stop signs on the buses and really just be courteous,” said Waterman.

While school has already started for some, the first day of school for the Bozeman School District is Tuesday, Sep. 3.
