BOZEMAN — Big Sky Dental in Bozeman celebrated Veterans Day early with the annual Smiles for Freedom event.

All active or retired military members were invited to make an appointment for a free filling, extraction or cleaning.

Big Sky Dental said they had 24 people coming in for free dental care.

Dentists and staff at Big Sky Dental say it’s a great opportunity to thank veterans and active military members for their service.

"You get a different type of gratitude I think, than we do on a regular basis," said Dr. Jesse McClung, DDS, of Big Sky Dental. "And I think people appreciate being appreciated, and I think when they feel that, they respond differently to us and it’s just a really enjoyable day."

Smiles for Freedom is a national event that takes place every year across the country.

Since 2015, they’ve donated just under $1 million in free dental care services.

Veterans Day is Monday, Nov. 11.
