BOZEMAN, Mont.- After the announcement of Watson’s departure, the Bozeman School Board knew it had to get to work to find a replacement for the position.
The Montana School Board Association has been assisting with the search for Bozeman’s next superintendent and there are currently 12 applicants who have applied for the position, four from Montana and eight out of state.
The board approved at last night’s meeting to have a screening committee made up of three board members.
The committee will narrow the applicants but if there’s no one who stands out, there’s the option for the board to decide to hire an interim position.
“I just think we’re okay. I think that there’s that general feeling on the board that there’s not a panic, we’re definitely comfortable with where the district is and we’re not gonna just hire anybody. We feel we can be fairly selective and have that luxury right now to take our time if we need to,” Bozeman School Board Chair, Andy Willett said.
The board plans to hold a special meeting on May 29 to discuss the next steps in the process.
