BOZEMAN, Mont. – Bozeman’s Deputy Mayor Chris Mehl is stepping down from his position at Headwaters Economics in order to dedicate all his time to becoming Bozeman’s next mayor.
Mehl will no longer be the policy director for Headwaters as he spends the rest of his time working to get ready for his new job.
During his time off, he plans on continuing his work as part of the commission and wants to travel to other cities around the state to ask what is and isn’t working in their communities.
“I am going to get as prepared as I can,” said Mehl, “go visit other cities, do a lot of research, go to conferences, meet with more people. But the second thing is, we have one mayor at a time, and we have a very good mayor in Cyndy Andrus. So I am going to continue to support her as the deputy. But when that day comes in January, I want to be as prepared as I can be.”
Mehl will become Bozeman’s mayor on January 1.
