BOZEMAN, Mont. – The Montana Highway Patrol says at least one person is dead after a crash on Interstate 90 in Gallatin County Monday night.
It happened in the eastbound lanes of I-90 at mile marker 291, about halfway between Belgrade and Manhattan at 11:00 p.m. MHP says a 1994 mercury grand marquis was traveling too quickly for the slick and icy road conditions.
The mercury hit a semi trailer, which turn and hit a 2012 ford edge.
A 35-year-old female from Willow Creek and a 41-year-old male from Fairview were both ejected from the mercury and died at the scene, both were not wearing seat belts.
The semi driver was a male from Denver and was not injured along with the four individuals in the ford edge. Both the semi driver and all four passengers in the ford edge were wearing seat belts.
According to MHP, speed and road conditions were the cause of the wreck and the crash is still under investigation.
It’s unknown at this time if alcohol or drugs were involved.
