BOZEMAN, Mont.- The Bozeman Police Department is sending out extra patrols for the holiday weekend with the goal of keeping the roads safe.
Police say the holiday weekend is one of the most dangerous times on the road due to the number of drunk drivers. Patrol Captain Dana McNeil said police have been preparing for this weekend and will be on high alert for drunk drivers. McNeil advises those who will be drinking to make sure they have a safe ride home.
“Safe roads are a very important part what we are concerned with in the patrol division,” said McNeil. “Unfortunately, Montana is dead last when it comes to fatalities on our roads due to impaired driving. So it is an extremely important part of what we do in my division so we make sure we are out there enforcing those rules and making sure things are safe for the roadways.”
AAA will be offering free rides and a vehicle tow of up to ten miles to any driver on Labor Day starting at 6 p.m.
