BOZEMAN Mont. – Bozeman drivers who use the city’s west side could face delays and detours as construction began Monday at the corner of Baxter and Davis.
The city is planning to widen Baxter road from 19th to Davis. There will also be a new traffic signal at the corner of Baxter and Davis.
A lawsuit put a hold on adding stop lights at the Baxter Lane and Davis intersection, but a settlement was reached in July of 2017 between the city and the landowners on that corner. Demolition of a house on the corner was completed earlier this week.
“The project started as just an intersection improvement because that intersection is failing. Even though it’s a four-way stop school time and rush hour it backs right up,” said City of Bozeman Project Manager, Bob Murray. He continued, “that was how the projected started and then we included the completion of the road between Davis and 19th.”
The construction will continue through November and start again in the spring with hopes it will be completed by next summer.
