BILLINGS - A man who was found dead inside a Billings home was wanted for a sexual offense, Billings police said in a press release issued Wednesday.

According to police, detectives on Monday went to the home of John Nailen at 3309 Tahoe Drive at about 5 p.m. to execute an arrest warrant and a search warrant related to an alleged sex offense by Nailen.

"Upon making entry into the residence, Detectives discovered Nailen deceased," the press release states. "Additionally, Detectives observed evidence of fire inside the residence that was at least several days old. Initial information indicates the fire was intentionally set."

Nailen, 45, died of smoke inhalation, according to the Yellowstone County Coroner's Office.

Police said it does not appear foul play was involved in Nailen's death, although the investigation continues.
