Yellowstone County Sheriff's Office investigating homicide and house fire

Yellowstone County Sheriff Mike Linder identified the man arrested in connection with a Saturday morning fire and death on the 200 block of Jim Street as Justin Hosey, 32, of the Billings area.

Hosey was arrested at the Love's truck stop near Hardin and is facing possible charges of homicide, theft, arson and tampering with evidence, Linder said in a Monday news release.

Linder noted multiple agencies were involved in the case, including the Yellowstone County Sheriff’s Office ground and helicopter units, Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks, the Big Horn County Sheriff's Office and Montana Highway Patrol. In addition, Blue Creek Fire put out the house fire.

The victim will be identified pending notification of next of kin.



Billings — The Yellowstone County Sheriff's Office is investigating a homicide after finding a person dead during a house fire on Saturday morning.

According to Sheriff Mike Linder, deputies responded to the report of a fire on Jim Street inside the Meadowlark Trailer Park.

When arriving on scene, they discovered a body and believed the death to be suspicious in nature.

Detectives spent 13 hours on the scene and eventually arrested a man on charges connected to the death, including arson and deliberate homicide.

Linder said the investigation is ongoing.
