BUTTE — A Butte man was arrested Friday morning after law enforcement officers responded to a burglary alarm at the Front Street Market in Butte.

Jacob Elkins, 29, is charged with felony burglary, felony possession of dangerous drugs, misdemeanor possession of burglary tools and a misdemeanor warrant.

According to Butte-Silver Bow Undersheriff George Skuletich, at 4:13 am on Jan. 15, 2021, officers met the owners and searched the building on W. Front Street. While conducting the search, they reportedly located Elkins in the rear of the building, climbing through a roof access.

Elkins reportedly was able to get onto the roof of the building then hide in a nearby ditch where officers found him. Elkins reportedly had items in his possession that were taken from the market. Officers also allegedly located a small amount of meth on Elkins.
