A Helena man is accused of trying to solicit sex from a law enforcement officer posing as an underage male.

24-year-old Jackson Robert McGinnis has been charged in Lewis and Clark County with two counts of felony sexual abuse of children.

According to court documents, McGinnis was in contact on social media with a Helena Police Department detective who pretended to be a 14-year-old boy.

The detective, as the teen, informed McGinnis they were underage. McGinnis allegedly indicated being under 18 was a plus, and propositioned them for a sexual encounter at a Helena motel.

McGinnis is scheduled to enter a plea in District Court on June 4, 2020.
