BUTTE — Two additional fatalities have been reported in connection with the COVID-19 outbreak at Butte’s Continental Care & Rehabilitation, according to Butte-Silver Bow Health Officer Karen Sullivan.
The deaths of the residents follow eight other resident fatalities at the skilled nursing facility, located at 2400 Continental Dr., bringing the facility’s COVID-19 fatality count to 10.
Continental Care & Rehabilitation is now reporting that 33 residents have tested positive for the COVID-19 virus, as well as 15 staff members.
“Every death being experienced at Continental Care is like a death in the family,” Sullivan said. “The loss of these residents is deeply felt and mourned by resident families, as well as staff and other residents at the facility. Our thoughts are truly with everyone during this tragedy.”
As of noon Friday, Nov. 6, Butte-Silver Bow was reporting 899 cases of COVID-19 in the county, since the Health Department was notified of the county’s first case March 13. That is an increase of 35 cases over the previous 24-hour period.
“We are asking our citizens to practice due diligence and take every precaution in the days ahead,” Sullivan said. “Cold and flu season is here, along with COVID. Please protect yourself and your family by following the public health precautions we have been preaching from the beginning.”
