MISSOULA — The Missoula City-County Health Department (MCCHD) reports that 95 additional COVID-19 cases have been confirmed since the Thursday update.

The number of active cases stands at 696. Twenty of the active cases, as well as one of the reported new COVID-19 cases, are associated with the Universtiy of Montana.

The total number of cases has now risen to 5,463 including 4,722 recoveries and 45 COVID-19 related deaths.

The number of active hospitalizations due to COVID-19 has dropped from 44 on Thursday to 40 -- including 14 Missoula County residents.

The average of daily new cases per 100,000 now stands at 61, down from the 67 reported Thursday.

The MCCHD goal is to bring that number down to 25/100,000 people for two consecutive weeks or more.

MCCHD noted on Thursday on Dec. 8 that eight previously reported confirmed cases have been classified as duplicative cases and are no longer included in the cumulative case total.

The health department has switched to a new data collection software so "some data points may be unavailable for a short period of time."

It was announced on Dec. 7 that Community Medical Center and Providence Saint Patrick in Missoula will be among the first health care centers to get the COVID-19 vaccine -- possibly as early as Dec. 15.

MCCHD announced on Dec. 4 that the drive-thru COVID-19 testing center located on Flynn Lane will now be accepting weekend appointments.

The Missoula City-County Board of Health updated the local COVID-19 restrictions on Nov. 19.

Missoula County residents can call 406-258-INFO weekdays between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. to discuss COVID-19 information.

MCCHD has a website solely focused on COVID-19 information which can be found here.
