The Mineral County Health Department announced on Monday that the county has its first two confirmed COVID-19 cases.

In a Facebook update, the health department said it received two lab confirmed cases Monday afternoon. Both of the cases are Mineral County residents and all close contacts have been notified.

"Please continue to wash hands often, avoid close contact and practice social distancing with non-household members, cover your mouth and nose with a cloth face covering when around others, cover coughs and sneezes, and clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces daily," the Facebook post read. "If you develop symptoms of COVID-19 (cough, fever or chills, shortness of breath, fatigue, body aches, headache, new loss of smell or taste, diarrhea, nausea or vomiting, and/or congestion) contact your primary care provider."

No more information was provided. Montana officially surpassed 5,000 total confirmed COVID-19 cases on Monday, according to the state tracking map.
