It was announced on Tuesday that a shelter in place order will continue indefinitely on the Flathead Indian Reservation.

This comes after a number of presumptive positive COVID-19 cases were reported by Tribal Health officials.

As people continue to shelter in place, authorities will have time to confirm these quick-test positives with lab work and complete contact tracing.

In a press release from the Lake County CSKT Incident Command System, officials say there’s potential community spread in the Mission Valley.

With limited first responders and emergency health professionals, officials say extending their shelter in place is the safest way to move forward.

There are 22 active cases in the Mission Valley, and all close contacts have been notified.
