Big Horn County reports new COVID-19 case

Health officials announced one new COVID-19 case in Big Horn County Tuesday.

The patient is a teenage male. He is not associated with Big Horn County eight previously confirmed cases, according to Big Horn County Health Officer Rhonda Johnson.

Three of the Big Horn County patients have recovered. The remaining six, including this newest case, are quarantined and recovering at home, Johnson said in a news release.

The eight previous cases in Big Horn County include:

· Two (2) females in their teens
· Two (2) females in their 20’s
· One (1) female in her 50’s
· One (1) male in his teens
· One (1) male in his 30’s
· One (1) male in his 40’s

This newest case, which has not yet been reported by the state, brings Montana's total COVID-19 cases to 480 . MTN is reporting one fewer total cases and one fewer recovered cases due to a case in Jefferson County that local health authorities report involved a patient who was not in the state.

Montana now has 22 active cases.

Big Horn County is holding two COVID-19 surveillance testing events this week:

· Wednesday, May 27, 2020 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. near Crow/Northern Cheyenne Hospital in Crow Agency
· Thursday, May 28, 2020 from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Hardin High School in Hardin

All are encouraged to come to one of these events, even if they aren't members of the Crow Tribe of Indians, according to the health department. Those wishing to be tested are required to bring valid I.D. and provide a working telephone number and physical address (not P.O. Box) for follow-up with testing results.
