BUTTE — The Butte-Silver Bow Health Department reported an additional death in the county due to COVID-19.

The health department said in a press release on Monday that the death occurred at BeeHive Homes of Butte, an assisted living facility. It is the third death at BeeHive and the 38th in Butte-Silver Bow County.

The press release said as of Sunday there are 2,663 total COVID cases in the county with 2,370 recovered and 255 active.

Health Officer Karen Sullivan said a drop in the county test positivity rate — from 29.60 percent to 21.70 percent — is encouraging but that the rate should be lower than 10 percent, ideally lower than five.

“We ask the community for a particularly difficult favor, please limit your contact with others,” Sullivan said.

According to data compiled by MTN News, Montana has seen 840 COVID deaths statewide since the beginning of the pandemic.
