BOZEMAN — On Monday, those living in Bozeman were asked to conserve using their water “extremely” but only for one day. And next week, they'll be asked to cut back again for a day.
Why? Bozeman city officials say it was part of Phase One of a mission to add a second water main line at Sourdough Water Treatment Plant.
It’s $2 million project with two purposes, according to the city, add the second line just in case the single line ever fails.
And also add more capacity for water at the plant, using a large pipe.
You can run your water normally now.
Engineers say there will be another 8 am to 5 pm line shutdown sometime next week.
“That will provide a second line so we won’t have to worry about one of them breaking and be able to get water into town," says Bob Murray, project engineer for the City of Bozeman. "This is half of it. The other half will happen next year down at the Sourdough Reservoir.”
City officials say the next phase will start next year and they will let the public know those dates when we get closer to them.
