BOZEMAN — Despite New Year’s Eve being one of the most significant days for drunk driving arrests and deaths in the country, Bozeman police say they did make any DUI arrests.
Police say they increased patrols that night and used their STEP program, which helps ensure more officers can work overtime to meet the need.
They add last year also ended in a low number of arrests.
“We certainly hope and I do believe, at least to some extent, people are understanding the message and are making better decisions," says Deputy Chief Jim Veltkamp, Bozeman Police Department. "There are so many other options available between Streamline, calling our ride sharing program, taking a taxi. We’d like to believe that, in part, people are getting the message.”
In Silver Bow County, Butte police say they only made one DUI-related arrest.
