BELGRADE — A Belgrade man could face decades behind bars after Gallatin County Sheriff’s deputies say he tried to stab another man in the shoulder with a foot-long knife.
According to court documents, a man in the same house as Kevin Bendon was washing dishes when he eventually told investigators Bendon started acting “different.”
Then, that man says Bendon attacked him with a 12-inch long, 3-inch wide knife.
Court documents show deputies found an abrasion on the victim’s shoulder when they got there, while Bendon was “belligerent," yelling at officers as they arrested him.
In court, the prosecutor says Bendon’s crimes date back decades.
“Fraud, illegal use of credit cards, ‘89; burglary, ‘90," said the prosecutor, in part. "Disorderly conduct, 2008, two of them in 2009 and 2011, ‘12. Two in ‘13, ‘17 and two in ‘18. Criminal mischief, 2009.”
Bendon could face up to 20 years in prison and his bail was set at $25,000.
He also can’t be within 300 feet of the victim.
