BOZEMAN- On Saturday friends and family joined together to celebrate a local child being cleared from medical isolation.
Last year, Dax Schieffer was diagnosed with Dyskeratosis Congenita, a rare genetic disorder that causes bone marrow failure.
Hope trickled in when Schieffer’s family found out that he would be able to get a bone marrow transplant after a donor was found.
More than $70,000 dollars were raised by the community to fund the trips Schieffer’s family had to make to Seattle for his medical needs.
Dax’s mother, Chantel, said in June of this year her son was finally cleared from medical isolation.
As a way of giving back to the community, his family organized Daxapalooza, an event to get his friends together to play on the Eagle Mount playground.
"People have come out to support us in raising money for our medical needs to giving us all kinds of support that we really just didn’t expect.” Said Chantel Schieffer. “So this was one way that we just wanted to get our friends together and say thank you."
