BOZEMAN- On Monday, Bozeman and Gallatin County Commissioners met at City Hall for the weekly city commission meeting to try and put differences aside over street costs.
The battle for who should pay for the road repairs on W. Oak and N. Ferguson has been going on for over a year.
Frustrations rose at the meeting because the city wants the county to pay for $900,000 of the $2 million project that installed bike lanes and widened the street.
After going back and forth for nearly two hours, city commissioner Terry Cunningham proposed the city wave the $1000 administrative fee and pay for the repairs over five years instead of three. County commissioner, Don Seifert said it the proposal didn’t make him change his mind about the county protesting paying.
"So I am perfectly comfortable letting the letter of protest stand, potentially paying under protest and let somebody else get these answers,” said Seifert.
If Gallatin County does pay the amount and still believes it is not fair, the next step would be to take legal action against the city.
