BILLINGS – A man was rushed to the hospital following an early morning shooting on the Billings South Side.

Police were called to the area of Murphy Avenue and Calhoun Lane just after 2:30 a.m. Friday.

They found a man, who police said is in his teens or early 20s, with more than one gunshot wound.

He was taken to a hospital by ambulance and his current condition is unknown.

Police Lt. Shawn Mayo said dispatch also received multiple reports of gunshots heard in the area around that same time.

Police are focusing their investigation on the alley behind 742 Calhoun Lane.

Several shell casings were discovered in the area and they believe that’s where the shooting took place.

A man who lives on Murphy Avenue told Q2 he heard three gunshots and went outside to investigate.

He said that’s when he saw the victim walking and collapse on Murphy Avenue.

No arrests have been made and the shooting is under investigation.
