BOZEMAN – The new 60-acre Story Mill Community Park has met its fundraising goal and is on track to open by the end of the year.
The new park will house pavilions, trails, an amphitheater, a dog park and a custom playground designed by local kids.
The funding for the park started back in 2012, and since then the campaign has raised more than $16 million. $11.76 million was raised by The Trust for Public Land from more than 450 individuals and business donors. $4.5 million was invested into the park from the Parks & Trails bond.
"We are about to start building pavilions, we have fencing going up, trails in, and the best part about this is that since we have met this goal, people will be able to use this park later this year and that’s just incredible. It is hard to imagine that, but yeah, by the time the snow flies we will be able to be out in the park,” said Molly Pickall, philanthropy director for the Northern Rockies Trust for Public Lands.
Construction started in April, and though the park is set to open by winter, a specific date has not been confirmed yet.
