BOZEMAN – On Monday at the weekly city commission meeting, the largest budget to date could be passed by commissioners.

Commissioners and Mayor Cyndy Andrus will sift through City Manager Andrea Surratt’s recommended budget for Fiscal Year 2019. It is the largest budget the city has ever seen and exceeds the FY18 budget by $12 million.

Surratt is recommending the addition of 10.85 city positions, mostly in the water and wastewater divisions, to support the population growth Bozeman has seen over the past decade. The $118 million budget would increase property taxes for the average homeowner by $4.23 annually.

"When we get to this point we feel like we have an understanding of all of the needs of the departments, the wishes of the commission and the expectations that taxpayers have about how much their tax bill will be this year, and I feel like we are in a really good place,” said Surratt.
