One person is dead after crashing their vehicle into the Boulder River near McLeod on Friday afternoon.

Montana Highway Patrol responded to the call on the main Boulder Road just before five o’clock on Friday.

MHP believes that the lone occupant of the vehicle crossed over a bridge, before missing the right-hand turn after the bridge.

The driver then veered off the side of the road, hitting a rock before crashing into the river.

MHP tells MTN News that speed may have been a factor, it’s unknown whether drugs or alcohol were involved. It’s also unknown if the driver was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

The investigation is ongoing.
