BOZEMAN – The Summer Trails Program, a fundraiser to the Gallatin Valley Land Trust, is heading into its final days to earn money for the Main Street to Mountains Trail system.
More than 50 businesses have pledged $66,000 toward enhancement and expansion of the trail system but GVLT says it needs trail users to help it access those funds.

“For every mile somebody walk and logs on our website we get money from that pool,” says GVLT Director Penelope Pierce. “The entire community can help us raise money by simply getting out and enjoying the trail system.”
The miles you log are on the honor system and you can backtrack to June 2, when the program started, to count miles towards the Summer Trails Challenge.
This weekend, the 15th through the 17th, local store Dee-Oh-Gee has sponsored double miles which means if you bring your pet you can count the miles they’ve logged alongside you.

Pierce says one expansion trail users will see thanks in part to this fundraiser is the connection of the Painted Hills Trail down to the Triple Tree Tail.
The fundraiser runs until Friday, June 22.
